Music & Media
Our Purpose is to motivate and empower the body of Christ, not to watch others worship, but to actively worship God themselves in Spirit and in Truth. We put our purpose into action in many different areas: music, choir, orchestra, special music, media, sound, recording, lighting, visual arts, and video.
The choir ministry plays a vital role in the worship ministry at Calvary Baptist Church. They are a group of dedicated musicians who have committed themselves to communicating God’s Truth in song. We present a choral anthem every Sunday morning and several special programs throughout the year. If you are interested in becoming part of the choir ministry please contact Peter Radford. We’d be delighted to have you serve with us.
The orchestra is a group of gifted instrumentalists who accompany the choir and congregation in worship each Sunday. Our orchestra offers ministry opportunities for strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. We rehearse on a weekly basis and strive to assist in communicating God’s Truth through our playing. If you are interested in becoming part of the orchestra ministry please contact Peter Radford.
The solo, duet, small groups, and instrumentalists at Calvary present their music in three services including the Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday evening services. This team of ministers is made up of volunteers who audition their music for the M&M Team and then become part of the regular special music rotation. Our goal in presenting solo and small group music is to draw attention to God and His Truth. If you are interested in becoming part of the choir ministry please contact Elaine Harbin or Peter Radford.
Our ministry is supported by a number of teams serving in the area of Media.
The purpose of the Media Team is to effectively support the communications of God's truth so that our entire church body can be effectively worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth.
If you are interested in finding out more about serving on one of these teams, there is an opportunity to observe the team for several weeks prior to making a commitment to enter the training phase. Training generally takes place "on the job" working alongside a veteran member of the team.
Our Sound Team supports the audio needs for speakers, musicians, actors, video/DVD presentations, etc. The main auditorium features a 48-channel mixing board which supports the technology for both house and stage monitor applications.
Our Recording Teams uses digital computer technology to record our services. These recordings are used for our weekly radio broadcast on WNPV (1440 AM) heard each Sunday at 10am.
Our Lighting Team is responsible for providing lighting to enhance each portion of the service or program. The auditorium utilizes a computer-controlled lighting console which provides control for every light fixture in the room.
Visual Arts Team
Our Visual Arts Team uses computer software to provide song lyrics, videos, PowerPoint presentations and sermon outlines for our services.
Our Video Team supports the ministry by capturing services and programs and broadcasting them throughout the building. We are also investigating the possibility of recording our worship services.
