Passage: James 1:1-18
Overview:
The reality is that life is hard. There are challenges, trials, temptations, fears, struggles, and tests. There’s no escaping that reality in our short time here on this earth. However, the good news is that God provides a solution. He provides us with His wisdom to know how we can respond to these challenges and grow spiritually from them. God wants us to trust Him. He wants us to fight doubt that can creep in. He wants us to choose His way over our way. That’s the heartbeat of James 1 and the heartbeat of our faith.

What do we want our teens to know?
- We will face trials, challenges, and pain in this life
- Those difficult things are not random, they have a purpose
What do we want our teens to do?
- Ask God for wisdom
- Fight doubt
- Choose God’s way
Ways to follow up with your teen this coming week:
- Use examples in your own life about how God has taken very difficult situations and provided opportunities for grace and growth in your life because of them.
- Talk together as a family how you (together) can ask God for wisdom each day to do what He has for you that day.
- Ask your teen(s) this question on a regular basis: How are you responding to that situation? How can you learn and deepen your relationship with Jesus through what is happening?
