The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
This week's sermon explored one of the most surprising statements Jesus ever made: "It is to your advantage that I go away" (John 16:7). The sermon challenged us to understand why having the Holy Spirit dwelling within us is actually better than having Jesus physically present with us. We examined five key truths about the Holy Spirit that reveal His essential role in our spiritual lives—from His deity as the third person of the Trinity, to His permanent indwelling in every believer, to His work of sanctification and empowerment for service. The implications for our spiritual life are profound: we are never alone, we have supernatural power available to transform us, and we are equipped with spiritual gifts to serve others. Yet many of us aren't experiencing this power because we tolerate unconfessed sin, we don't pray, and our lives aren't truly on mission.
