Introduction to Acts
What does it look like when ordinary people are seized by an extraordinary mission? The book of Acts answers that question in vivid, sometimes breathtaking detail. As we open this remarkable book together, we discover that it is far more than a historical record of the early church. It is the story of God keeping his promises, the Holy Spirit empowering unlikely people, and the gospel crossing every barrier imaginable. From a small gathering in Jerusalem to the heart of the Roman Empire, we watch the mission expand not because of human talent or strategy, but because God himself is advancing his purposes. The central challenge Acts places before us is this: the same risen Christ who directed the first believers still reigns today, the same Spirit who empowered them is available to us, and the same mission remains unfinished. We are not spectators of a story that ended two thousand years ago. We are participants in a story still being written. As we step into this study, we are invited to ask ourselves honestly whether we are living as people seized by that mission, or whether we have settled into a comfortable version of faith that asks very little of us and expects even less from God.
